Thailand´s three leading mobile operators, with a total of 66 million subscribers, today announced at a press conference in Bangkok that they will utilize technology from the Norwegian mobile advertising company ComCom. The company is providing content, news updates, social network access and advertisements directly to the home screen of the mobile phones.
The mobile operators DTAC (Telenor-owned), True and AIS in Thailand today announced that Mobile Advertisement is a priority, and the technology of choice is developed by Comcom.
- This is an important milestone for ComCom. Over four years we have created superior technology for mobile advertising, our new business partners have thoroughly tested and approved our solution. The agreements with the large mobile operators in Thailand is a recognition and a window facing the rest of the world, CEO Svein Johnsen of ComCom says. Svein Johnsen was cofounder of the major Norwegian mobile phone company Chess.
In Thailand ComCom has partnered with the country's leading media group, BEC Tero, and together they form the joint venture BEC Tero ComCom. Johnsen says that BEC Tero in this way makes a firm and innovative position in the advertising market.
- Over the next few years your mobile phone will not only be the most attractive channel, but also the most powerful advertising media ever. The mobile phone is the most personal device, it’s with us all the time. Therefore BEC Tero is investing into this market, according to Johnsen. He believes several media agencies will follow.
Through the mobile phone the advertisers reach more relevant audiences. Previous tests conducted to suggest that the response to mobile advertising is very high.
- For advertisers, the future is direct response and interaction with consumers. Our technology makes the mobile phone to the strongest media channel ever, leading the consumer to the advertiser thru a keyclick, Johnsen said. The new standard ComCom showed in Bangkok today is a major step forward for the entire industry.
